Whenever we give in to our habit, we feel like we’ve failed, and don’t want to admit it. So, we lie. We keep secrets. It’s just easier, or it seems so. But it never really helps. We’re still stuck and lying makes sure we stay that way.
Have you ever developed a habit you wish you hadn't? How does this happen and how can we develop a new normal? It is possible!
Addiction lives in the dark. It likes to hide there, where no one can see. No one can know. So, when somebody tells you that, in order to beat it, you have to share the secret of your addiction, you shrink back into that same dark place, where you don’t have to expose the shame or admit the bondage of addiction.
Lies. Secrets. Hypocrisy. Deceit. The unwelcome companions of sexual addiction. Nobody wants them, but once they take root, they don’t want to leave. It can happen to anyone. We know, because it happened to us and, for years, we tried everything we could to free ourselves, but nothing worked. Until something did.
